103 When the Heralds called this out from the walls they (the mice) came from the fields to the house of Bread Gnawer. The unhappy father of Crumb Filcher whose dead body was floating on his back in the lake
106 The poor wretch was no longer near the banks , instead he floated into the mioddle of the lake. As the mice came with haste upon daybreak, Bread Gnawer came up first angred by his son, and gave this speach;
10 "Oh beloved Mice, I have suffered much despair from the frogs. They have attempted a wrong on all of us. I myself am upset since now I have lost three sons. The first one was killed by a thief, one of the hostile weasels. He was stolen from outside the mouse hole. The other was picked up by many harsh men, being foolish the young child discovered the wooden bait. The third was dearest to me and cherished by his mother. Puff Cheek drowned him leaving him floating in the lake. Let us get ready and we will go upon them sorting their bodies and making them work the harness.
122 After saying these unkind things everyone of the mice began to equip themselves.

123 And Ares who cares for war equiped them.
124 First Equipping Themselves with greaves on both thighs breaking up bean pods by the lot, fashioning them well, they gnawed on them through the night. Then they made a breast plate fashioned from fine flax. And then they skillfully made spearheaded javelins, for the beautiful work of Ares, and the helmet was a chickpea shell to cover the temples.
132 Sothen the mice were in arms. And as the frogs became aware of this, they rose up from the water and they came togeatherfrom around the land as one in a coucul for thew evil war. They ehmselves standing and shouuting, wondering why.
136 A hearld came with a pledge bearing a staff in his paws Pot Visitor the son of the great hearteed Cheese Scooper was the messenger who broughtr the news of the evil war, and telling them this.
139 Oh frogs this is a warning to you from the mice saying for you to prepare for both war and fighting. For I saw Crumb Filcher slain, by your king Puff Cheek,
144 As he announced his speachg and his words went into their ears, the hearts of the lordly frogs were disturbed. And the one being blamed, Puff Cheak rose up and said;
147 " Oh friends, I myself did not kill the mouse, nor did I see it die. Alltogeather he was swiming and playing by the lake imitatining the ways of frogs. I myself am not to blame for this wicked deed.
150 But come Council because of this we must seek and utterly destroyt the crafty mice. For this I ask you what seems to myself to be the best. Let us aarrangeour bodies in arms and let us all stand before the highest ridge. Where the p[lace is steep.
155 When they declare they will rush us we will let them march, when they have come nearer, grasping their helmates we will throw them togeather into the lake.
158 We will stop them by drowning them in the water since they are not able to swim. In this way we will do the bountiful mouse killing."
